Director and team leader Stuart Hodgkinson has practised architecture at various levels for 30 years, amassing a unique breadth of knowledge across architecture, design, detail and procurement.

As a Director of Lathams since 1992, Stuart is responsible for the design and conservation group within the practice. He holds Register of Architects Accredited in Conservation (AABC) status, and is listed on the RIBA Conservation Register as a Specialist Conservation Architect (SCA), confirming the highly specialist skills which allow him to work on historic buildings of outstanding national importance, such as Grade I and II* listed buildings or scheduled monuments.

Stuart and his team have created a wide variety of complex and innovative buildings in the commercial and cultural sectors, majoring on creative re-use together with new build in sensitive locations.

Having recently completed the £1.7m reworking and extension of the Grade II listed Whitworth Centre at Darley Dale, Stuart is about to begin the complex job of restoring Tynemouth station on the North East Coast.

Past projects have included 'The Victoria Quarter' - the retail project in Leeds carrying the largest stained glass window in Europe; 'Ceramica' - a celebration of the pottery industry in Stoke, combining contemporary new build with a restored Town Hall; 'Nottingham Castle' - a re-ordering of the Grade I listed museum; and 'Silk Warehouse', a £12.0m residential project for Urban Splash at Manningham Mills in Bradford.
