Developing an innovative new learning resource for pupils at Repton School

  • Project: The Priory, Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire

Lathams has refurbished and remodelled the Grade I listed Old Priory building in the heart of Repton School, creating a new library and resource centre. The building is the main surviving element of the original 12th century Priory, and was converted for school use in 1557.

This flagship project was designed to balance the historic ambience of the building with contemporary features. The building provides a stimulating, high-quality learning resource with the library a central, vital part of the school.

We also carried our significant works to the existing building fabric, including roof repairs and strengthening floors. Enhanced spaces for teaching staff created a comfortable environment for working and social activities, and parts of the building were made accessible for pupils, staff and visitors with disabilities.
