Giving tenants a positive place to call home

  • Project: The Lunt Estate, Bilston
  • Client: Heanton Housing Association
  • Contractor: Thomas Vale Construction
  • Scale: 44 homes
  • Value: £4.8m

After carrying out a feasibility study, Lathams has designed a 44-home social housing scheme as part of the regeneration of the Lunt Estate, Wolverhampton.

The new housing scheme needed to address positive sustainability and social impacts featuring highly insulated timber frame homes, with external skins of brick and weatherboard. To maintain consistent local character, we used Wolverhampton red brick and contextual references to existing housing stock. Roof-mounted solar thermal panels and mechanical ventilation and heat recovery systems were also incorporated.

The homes were informed by public consultation, and include shared amenities and allotments. They have now achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
