Barlborough Hall Gazebo Restoration

  • Project: Barlborough Hall Gazebo

The Gazebo or Banqueting House at Barlborough Hall is an important component of the Barlborough Hall estate and is separately listed Grade II* and also as a building at risk, Category A.

Built in the late C16, it’s generally unremarkable exterior contains a wonderful overlay of added ornament and enrichment, including a gypsum plaster floor and a magnificent but frail plaster chimney piece. In the project for its restoration Lathams provided the lead professional advisor role preparing specialist survey and condition reports in support of a successful English Heritage repairs grant application.

Following a detailed OJEU tender process to find the right contractor a detailed and bespoke specification including detailed analysis for stone and mortar mixes and has formed the basis of a traditional contract with Bonsers Restoration. The building contract was completed October 2014.
