Advertising architecture on the high street

Simon Chiou, Architect at Lathams and NDSA Vice President

Nottingham & Derby Society of Architects (NDSA) is a voluntary RIBA affiliated branch, members of which meet regularly to discuss and organise events to promote architects, architectural students and their profession. With both architecture faculties of the cities’ universities being very active, NDSA has been rejuvenated by a crop of young and enthusiastic individuals with a desire to celebrate the profession they have joined. With the recession still very much apparent in our profession and the recent bad press that architects have attracted (from government especially) we, at the NDSA, are attempting to bridge the gap between the profession and the public by staging regular public events and architecture socials.

For example during October we have organised two distinctive events directed to increase public awareness on the role of architecture in our society. The first is the Pop-Up Architectural Exhibition in Nottingham City Centre - promoting Nottingham architecture in the heart of Nottingham.
