Lathams selected as architects for extra care independent living projects in Derbyshire

Working as architects of choice for lead organisation Chevin Housing Association Ltd, a not-for-profit association which is part of the Together Housing Group, Lathams is pleased to announce that after an intensive 12-month selection process, the company has been selected to design three independent living schemes for older people. This initial project worth £25 million is expected to scale up over the next ten years when additional schemes will become part of the project.

The first three schemes to be designed by Lathams and built by construction partner Willmott Dixon are at: Foolow Court in Chesterfield, Cressy Fields in Alfreton and at the Clay Cross Schools site on Market Street in North East Derbyshire.

The extra care developments will provide independent living with personalised support available 24 hours a day when required, enabling residents to live longer on their own. The schemes will feature individual apartments with shared communal facilities, such as a restaurant, activity and other meeting rooms, shops and a garden, some of which will also be available for use by non-residents.
