Lathams nominated for prestigious Retrofit Award

We are delighted to announce we have been shortlisted in the Retrofit Awards 2012 for our outstanding work at Highfield House on the University of Nottingham campus.

The high-profile industry awards were launched in 2010 and reward and celebrate design, engineering and construction excellence that prolongs the active life of buildings and infrastructure.

The Lathams nomination is in the Listed Buildings/Structures category. Competition to be shortlisted is fierce, with high-quality entries vying for a place, so it’s a massive achievement for us.

The nomination is in recognition of our work at Highfield House, a Grade II listed building based on the main campus of The University of Nottingham. Formerly used by the Vice Chancellor, and subsequently by a number of departments, the building was deemed too small for modern use. We were asked to refurbish and extend the house, giving it a sustainable and productive future.

The ultimate aim was to create a BREEAM excellent building that would mainly be used by post-graduate researchers but which could also be used for events and graduation ceremonies.
