Lathams has won consistent national acclaim for its work in the repair, conservation and creative re-use of listed fabric.

By bringing our in-depth understanding of historic building fabric to bear, we help our clients to identify and understand an existing building’s chronology. From this analysis we can help identify the fullest range of opportunities for conservation, restoration or change.

Ours is an approach guided in equal measure by the demands of context and design. We produce architectural solutions which are sensitive both to the historically-accrued value and beauty of the existing fabric and to the demands, rigours and regulations of contemporary use. It is an approach in which twentieth century technology can sit comfortably alongside traditional craftsmanship, and which consistently sees listed and historic buildings made ready for a certain future.

Lathams is a recognised AABC architect, a prerequisite for working on English Heritage funded projects. We can provide every stage of the architectural and consultancy process including research, survey, conservation and maintenance plans, statements of significance and repair schedules/production information. In collaboration with our associates we can also provide grant application services via HLF, AHF and others.
