Lathams is a well-established specialist in the design and development of outstanding facilities for the education and health sectors.
Education
In education, we work both directly with independent, Foundation, Community and Voluntary Aided schools, and as part of wider partnerships (most recently through the Building Schools for the Future programme).
We have significant experience of working with schools which either have, or are seeking, Academy status, and have working extensively with local authorities in a Client Design Advisor (CDA) role.
All of our work is rooted in the context of the learner, fashioning spaces around the user using FF&E, graphics, spatial planning, flexibility and adaptability, to meet the demands of changing pedagogy and transformation learning.
Our specialist team can analyse your curriculum and discuss the impact of alternative approaches by synthesising resulting room demand with your current build capacity.
We also offer a specialist Sustainable Schools Programme – a package of expert visits, staff and student sessions, new monitoring technologies and practical ideas designed to help schools tackle head-on the challenges of sustainability in modern education (download Sustainable Schools Programme here).
Health
In healthcare, we have a long track record of work within the NHS, private healthcare and the charitable sector. We are experienced at creating appropriate facilities and spaces for the complete healthcare process, from clinical and care facilities through to administration and management.
In both areas we can support long-term ambitions by preparing masterplans which include a master budget for phased delivery towards an agreed goal. Working with or without a masterplan, we can then support our clients from project inception to completion, creating completely new buildings or altering, extending or refurbishing an existing facility as required.
