Lathams applies the simplest of rules to its architectural practice – context is all.
The principles of good urban design - establishing an understanding of the physical characteristics of a place and of the factors influencing its performance and potential - lie at the heart of our approach.
From the outset of every project, we work to establish a careful analysis of context, use, spatial requirements and economics. It is from this context that our design solutions are developed, each unique to its own site.
We are aware of, but never constrained by, the need to balance cost with performance. The introduction of an appropriate character, be it drama or tranquility, can add significant value to any building, over and above the pure cost economics.
Woven into all our work is a real commitment to the green agenda. Our focus is on delivering a low impact approach to sustainability, looking for low embodied energy in construction, high insulation and natural ventilation where possible.
